To keep her city in line, she intimidate local church leaders with subpoenas if they spoke out against the ordinance in sermons or other communications.

The State of Texas weighed in on the mayor’s abuse of power and demanded that she put the ordinance to a general vote, giving her until August 24 to either repeal the measure or let the citizens vote on a repeal.
